Elvex QuieTunes 660 are AM/FM radio ear muffs that off electronics that have been designed specificallyand this has resulted in a contemporary and functional product. The electronics have been separated from the hearing protection cavities in order to avoid the problems that are associated with moisture and sweat affecting the life span. Now with an improved sensitivity and station lock with new quality components. The radio offers FM and AM reception so that you can listen to music, a game, or your favorite talk radio show. This ear protection uses two AA alkaline batteries and they are replaceable through an external battery compartment. A fresh set of batteries will provide 150 hours of operation. If you forget to turn the headset off there is a four-hour shutoff that will assure you that you will not find a dead unit. There is a new 3.5 mm input jack that has been added in order to make it possible to listen to auxiliary devices such as iPod, scanners, and Com-radios. The signal is sent through the amplifier of Com-660 and the QuieTunes must be turned on. The auxiliary device will be heard simultaneously with the radio unless the volume is turned down. The sound is generated by the speakers which is limited to a safe 82 dB level with the use of gain limiter. There is an independent testing on the attenuation of the ear muffs that has estaiblished a Noise Reduction Rating in the range of 22 dB NRR and 27 dB SNR to CE, EN-352.
