The Mighty Probe is an insulated metal soil probe that incorporates all of the quality features of the Smart Stick with an additional current insulator to increase operator protection against electrical shock. The Mighty Probe is used for a second layer of protection and it is not intended to replace the user's personal protective equipment. It provides increased protection against electrical shock which can result from an incidental connection with energized lines. Obviously, the probe should be used within the right context. This particular probe has been tested to 50,000 volts by an independent testing laboratory while following ASTM F711-89 testing procedures. It has also been tested by the commercial laboratory services of a major utility company. (Both dry and 48hr. water soak to 45,000 volts.)
** Important to Note: The Mighty Probe lengths include the 6in current isolator. Therefore, the 48in Mighty Probe will allow you to probe down approximately 48in (so it is a 42in rod).
